We are excited! September 27, 2008 will be the Garden Tour and Garden Party to celebrate F.L.O.W.'s first years success!

Yes, we have a commitment for 10 yards to be transformed..........and a great party planned! For those of you that have been to a WCR party, you know we can throw a great party!

Garden Tour Saturday September 27th, 10am till 4pm
Garden Tour books with maps of the homes cost $10.00

We are gearing up for fall of 2008!

F.L.O.W. – (Friends Landscaping Our World) is an exciting project helping our urban communities in Grand Rapids Michigan. Let me give you a brief history of this project.

I am Michelle Gordon – Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. I work with many lower income families. Due to the current Real Estate market, homes have become very affordable. The ones that are the MOST affordable happen to be homes that have been vacant for a long time. Therefore you can imagine what the yards must look like.
Landscaping can be expensive and a luxury most can not afford.

Checking in with my customers after they bought their home to see if everything was going alright, I would get the same response from all, I love my house, I have painted, cleaned up and moved in, but I wish I could do something with the yard.

This got me thinking…………..what can I do to help. I contacted Jason Haywood with Signature Landscaping asking for splits of his customer’s plants. He did one better and volunteered to landscape 3 yards for free.

Tears of joy were had by all! As we waited for the trucks to drive down the road with the plants, the anticipation was over whelming! Home owners cried, we hugged and went to work………..

His crew volunteered their time, he got his suppliers to donate plants, I got more volunteers to help with labor………….and it was done! 3 yards were transformed!

Mary Mishler president elect 2008 for WCR (Woman’s Council of Realtors) got wind of this and decided to adopt this project and make a greater impact with the help of the council.

We can not do it alone, this effects everyone in the community……….so we reach out to everyone to get involved.
